DESCRIPTION:
The Sentry Model HM-502 Quad Serial
Interface Card provides 4 serial data channels that will support up to 61 drops
each. Each channel communicates
with up to 52 Host panels, 8 utility panels, and a power supply supervisor. For
installations with less than 416 apartments, Sentry recommends specifying the
Model HM-501 Dual Serial Interface Card. The
redundancy of the dual card increases overall system reliability. The Model HM-502
communicates to the panels with differential data signals following the EIA
standards described for RS-485. A
typical data line can extend over 4000 feet and does not require special line
terminations. All data lines are protected from transient voltage surges.
The four-channel card is equipped with one 37 pin sub D connector, a 6' ribbon
cable, and a termination board. To estimate the number of serial cards required
for a particular size installation, refer to the Master Controller, Model HM-550,
Technical Specification. Use the
same guidelines provided for the dual serial cards except divide by 180 instead
