DESCRIPTION
The Event Recording option records specific events to a floppy disk file
(LOG.CSV) for
review on another PC equipped with a spreadsheet program such as Microsoft EXCEL or Corel
Quattro Pro. By using one of these spreadsheet programs, you can sort the logged
information by date, room, or type of event. This option and these instructions are
for SEN385 and higher software versions. A floppy disk file can store approximately
16,000 events. Each event record contains:
1. On and off times of the event.
2. The type of event.
3. The room number or device in/at which the event occurred.
SETUP
When creating the configuration table for a system the following line must be included:
.LOG DISK=A AT=1 AT=13
This line specifies that the information to be logged (or stored) will be on drive A:
and that the information will be stored in memory and written to the disk at 1:00 PM
and 1:00 AM. This time is important because the system will create a service call if
it attempts to write to the disk when it has been removed for review.
To specify which system events are logged to the disk (Emergency Calls, Smoke Alarms,
Service Calls, etc.) modify the MASK= statements associated with each configuration
file command by adding D for log to Disk. Refer to the Sentry Programming Specifications
(Document 462-512B) for details.
OPERATION
Before removing the log disk from the Sentry System any activity currently stored in
system memory must be stored to the disk. This is accomplished by:
1. Press the MENU key to bring up the STANDARD MENU.
2. Select FACTORY using the K3 key. This will display the Factory Service Screen.
3. Press the 8 key to STORE STATUS TO DISK.
4. Wait for the following messages to be displayed:
Status will be saved...
Storing status file
FILE STORAGE COMPLETE
5. After the display of these messages press the MENU key twice to return to the
normal display screen.
6. At this time you may remove the disk from the A: drive and inspect the file LOG.CSV on another computer with a spreadsheet program installed.
Using the data sort functions of the spreadsheet program you can sort the information by room, event or date.
Once the log disk is nearly full, a service message will be displayed on the Sentry CPU.
Stating "Log Disk Full". Replace the full disk with a new IBM formatted disk and then
utilizing the steps above store the current activity to the new disk and clear all alarms.
