DESCRIPTION:
The Model 697 High Voltage
Full Duplex Data Isolator provides 1000 volts of electrical isolation to the
serial data line between a Host and Remote Master Controller. Isolated serial
data lines are required when data lines go between buildings, or building
sections on a separate utility power feed.
The Isolation eliminates the
damaging effects of ground currents during lightning strikes. It protects
devices and the console from transients.
The isolator can be placed
on the Host-Remote data line between the Host and Remote Master Controller.
It is typically located adjacent to the Host Master Controller.
More than one isolator can
be used on the data line. In cases where the data line is greater than 1 mile,
the 697 will also provide a signal boost to the data signal traveling in both
directions.
The 697 is powered by the
standard 12 volts DC supplied to all Sentry devices. The voltage source can come
from supplies on either the input or output side of the 697. A separate power
supply is not necessary, since the 697 includes isolated internal supplies. It
is important to assure the DC supply has battery back-up for data transfer
during power outages.
The 697 Data Line Isolator
is typically mounted using the Model 595 Plastic PCB track and depending on the
number used, enclosed in a Model 720 or Model 722 Enclosure. Screw terminals are
provided for all field wiring.
