Description
The I/O-16 is the main I/O card for a
Heritage MedCall "CliniComm" programmable light/tone annunciator
system, providing 16 switch input / lamp output channels. Up to 57 I/O-16 cards
can be addressed by a single MPU-8 in a system yielding a maximum system
capacity of 920 I/O ports. The board is mounted in the HM-CC Card Cage and
derives its power and data from backplane connections in the Card Cage. A
dipswitch sets the address for each card in the system.
Connections
A gold plated edge card connector is
provided for data and power connections to the printed circuit board when
installed in the HM-CC Card Cage. Two DB-25F connectors are provided for 8 I/O
channels each, and switch and lamp common connections.

Installation
Make sure all power is off to the
system. SEVERE DAMAGE CAN BE CAUSED BY INSTALLING CARDS AND/OR MAKING
CONNECTIONS TO THE SYSTEM WHILE POWER IS ON. Using proper antistatic handling
procedures remove the card from its shipping container and check that the
address dip switch is properly set according to the Installation Guide:
Microprocessor Based Systems. Remove the cover from the card cage and install
the card in the first available slot. Replace the cover and make connections as
required to all cards in the system. Apply power to the system and check for
proper operation.
