SYSTEM OVERVIEW
MISCELLANEOUS EQUIPMENT
SUPERVISION
The entire Sentry Legacy System is continuously supervised by the controller. Every system
device is scanned and tested every 3 seconds. If a device fails to respond with an
"all clear" signal within 4 attempts, the controller will display the particular
device and location on the screen for service. This supervision is extended to other
wiring used for the connection of smoke detectors, bed call cords, etc. If a smoke
detector or call switch is disconnected for any reason, the associated device will be
displayed as requiring service. A small green LED indicator is included on every apartment
host panel that will blink during the test sequence. This light is helpful during
installation and provides instant indication of the panel's operation.
OPTIONAL INPUT MONITORING
The Sentry Legacy will accept a wide variety of other input devices. Many other functions
can be monitored by the system and displayed on the screen when they require attention. An
audio device will signal the operator and the screen will display the alarm in an easy to
understand message. Standard Sentry Legacy utility input devices include a 12 input utility panel
and a 216 input option that allows connection for monitoring and announcing calls from
other manufacturer's Nurse-call and fire alarm systems.
Other typical utility uses are monitoring: patient wander alert systems, exit doors,
common area emergency call switches, HVAC equipment, and CCTV interface.
WIRING
All Sentry Legacy devices communicate over a twisted pair data line. A second wire pair
provides the low-voltage (12-volt) DC power. In most installations, all apartments connect
with a single looped 2 pair cable. This design provides a simple, fast, low-cost
installation. Sentry produces a complete line of terminal boards and other wiring devices
to aid the installers and service personnel.
PANEL CONSTRUCTION
The apartment panels are made of Lustran ABS material and are off white in color.
All host panels are terminated with a removable connector to aid in fast, reliable field
service. They are assembled with stringent quality control. This includes a
"burn-in" period and final test by computerized test equipment. The Sentry
Legacy apartment panels have a Lexan overlay on the front. They are an attractive sand
and beige color. Custom Lexan overlays are available upon request.
